Forcing People To Manually Opt Out Is A Dead Giveaway
When an app silently enables a feature and forces users to hunt down an option to opt out of that feature it is an admission that no one actually wants that new feature. That is exactly what Twitch and Amazon have done with their new AI training feature. Any and all Twitch streamers are now training AI with their streams and most have no clue that this is happening. This could lead to some rather interesting fallout seeing as how the content you generate yourself is likely not copyrighted, that game you are streaming and talking about is.
In order to be able to opt out you have to hunt down the switch and it is buried, likely on purpose, way down in your Account Settings menu. If you aren’t cool with having your content harvested by Amazon’s generative AI you should spend a minute hunting down that setting and ensuring it is off. You might also want to set up a reminder to check that it is still off on occasion. If Twitch enabled it without notifying you nor requesting your permission once, they are likely to do it again.
