Microsoft Copilot Will Soon Change Your Entire Browsing Experience, By Default

You Can Use The Banned Word Here, We Fully Support It’s Accuracy

Microsoft continues it’s war against it’s users, trying to force Copilot down their throats regardless of whether we want to use it or not.  The latest assault was revealed in an Insiders Edition release, where Copilot now takes over your web browsing experience.  When you click a link in this new version, they open in a Copilot side panel rather than launching your default browser.

This is not opt-in, it is enabled by default and who knows if you can reclaim the default app for HTTP and HTTPS links.

Copilot will ask if it is allowed to read and save the context of tabs opened in that conversation, which will then be saved in perpetuity in something similar to Recall.  Even better, it will also ask if it’s allowed to sync any passwords and form data in those tabs so it can save them and quite likely also put them somewhere Microsoft can access them at their leisure.

The Register reached out to ask if Microsoft had considered not forcing people to deal with this new behaviour by default, but as of yet they have not heard back.
