25 years later, RuneScape won’t die

RuneScape just turned 25 years old — and instead of fading into nostalgia, it’s thriving harder than ever. Jagex announced a full year of roadmaps, live events, and community‑driven updates for both Old School RuneScape and RuneScape 3. With Old School recently hitting 250k concurrent players, the MMO that started as a humble browser game is now proving it’s one of the longest‑running and most resilient live service titles in history.

Others may have played World of Warcraft, but for me, RuneScape was my first real introduction to MMOs. More than 20 years later, I am still closely involved with the franchise and still play to this day.
