It Was An Accident That Only Edge Would Work, We Promise!
While it is certainly difficult to prove intent in this case, Microsoft certainly seems to be doing everything they can to promote Edge, their extremely unpopular web browser. There are numerous Microsoft websites which suddenly run into issues when you access them with a browser other than Edge, at least until Chrome or Firefox releases a new update. In most cases Microsoft claims it was an unexpected byproduct of an internal update, but it happens frequently enough to make some users suspicious.
Starting in June of last year, systems that had Parental Controls enabled have been unable to use browsers that weren’t Edge. Even if those browsers were unlocked on the system, they would exhibit issues or even refuse to run after every single browser update. After 8 months of this, Microsoft have finally released a fix and will no longer ‘accidentally’ force users that have Parental Controls enabled to use Edge if they want to browse the web. Once the update applies, allowing Chrome, Firefox and other browsers to run will not revert after every single browser update.
At least Microsoft is consistent?
