The Other ‘Affordable’ Component
The life of a hobbyist system builder is a tough one right now, with only cases and motherboards retaining a somewhat rational price tag. That is a bit relative with Gigabyte’s Aero X3D Dark Wood X870E motherboard as the faux wooden and faux leather accents add a bit to the cost. Those unique additions do make the Aero X3D Dark Wood stand out among the competition and it would pair well with the impressive Lian Li Lancool 217 case if you wanted to go all out.
TweakTown discovered that the Aero X3D Dark Wood does not ignore function for form, the heat spreaders offer large surface area, direct-touch heatpipes, and 7W/mK thermal pads. It also sports a 64MB BIOS chip so this motherboard will support future generations of Ryzen processors, not that we will be able to afford them. The Aero X3D Dark Wood also benefits from an impressively massive backplate which can effectively shift a fair amount of heat from the electrical components to itself.
