Valve is thankfully continuing to expand the hardware that SteamOS supports instead of locking their OS to the Steam Machine; a hard to get and rather expensive system. SteamOS 3.8.25 will now run on a variety of handheld gaming devices, not just MSI’s Claw but also other obscure models like the Windows-based Konkr Fit. Indeed, at this point the only handheld Ars Technica is aware of that isn’t SteamOS approved is the Lenovo Legion Go S. This is all in addition to the previous update that added a huge swath of AMD and Intel systems.
The update also included an update to Linux driver the new Steam Controller uses to allow you to use it in any game if you switch to Desktop mode. This could make the Steam Controller more popular.
