Starfield, Bethesda’s newest IP, launched in 2023 as an Xbox and PC exclusive. Since release, it has been widely rumored to be heading to PS5, especially since the shift in strategy at Xbox.
Now, popular insider Shinobi602, who has a strong track record with industry information, has suggested on Resetera that a PS5 reveal could happen soon. According to the insider, the announcement may also include details about the game’s next expansion.
A second chance to win players back?
Starfield, Bethesda’s space-set RPG, includes much of what players have come to expect from the studio. Despite that, it has been a point of contention among fans, with some feeling it did not fully meet expectations.
It has become popular online to highlight the so-called “jank” often associated with Bethesda titles. Even so, Starfield is not a bad game by any reasonable measure. A PS5 release alongside a substantial update could help shift the conversation and give it renewed attention.
This also is not the first time we have heard rumors of a PS5 port or a major update. Back in December, we reported on similar claims, but without a concrete timeline on when it would release along with an expected Nintendo Switch 2 version being in the works. Though Shinobi also believes that release has been pushed out or might not even come at all.
Now, according to Shinobi602, there is a clearer timeline. The insider suggests Bethesda could reveal more as soon as next month, potentially placing the announcement of the PS5 version and the next update in March 2026, with reports pointing to an April 2026 release for PS5.
