The second part of Nintendo’s double-bill of Nintendo Directs takes place today.
After airing a 34-minute Nintendo Direct on Tuesday which was dedicated to the 40th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda and showed the first gameplay of the Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, it’s now time for arguably the main event.
Today Nintendo will be streaming its next main Nintendo Direct presentation, which it says will be 45 minutes long and will mainly focus on “Nintendo Switch 2 games launching this winter”.
This will be followed by a Nintendo Treehouse: Live presentation which will last roughly 110 minutes and will show off gameplay from some of the games revealed during the Direct.

The Nintendo Direct presentation takes place today, September 9, at the following time:
- USA (Pacific) – 7am
- USA (Eastern) – 10am
- UK (BST) – 3pm
- Central Europe (CEST) – 4pm
- Japan – 11pm
- Australia (AEST) – Midnight
Nintendo Direct: What will be announced?
As ever, there’s been a host of speculation about what could be announced during today’s Nintendo Direct.
At the time of writing, only five upcoming Nintendo-published games are known – Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave on September 17, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort on October 22, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on November 5, Pokémon Winds and Waves in 2027 and Xenoblade Genesis in 2027.
It’s obviously unlikely that we’ll see anything more from Ocarina of Time, but updates on any of the others could be expected.
There also isn’t a release date for The Duskbloods yet, and that’s still down for a 2026 release, so the smart money would be on a possible new trailer and release date for that.
Other than those, there’s hope that this might finally be the moment we see a new 3D Mario game. It’s now been nine years since Super Mario Odyssey, but the release of Donkey Kong Bananza last year has had some worried that it may have gotten in the way. Confirmation that Mario’s at least coming soonish will reassure a lot of players.
There will also be some hoping for announcements based on recent leaker claims that new Smash Bros, Nintendogs, Star Fox and Wario Land games are in the works, as well as a Super Metroid remake and Mario Kart World DLC.
Even if those claims do turn out to be true, it should be noted that they weren’t specifically related to this Nintendo Direct, so anyone hoping it meant they’d see them all today may be disappointed.
Nintendo usually also provides an update on its Nintendo Classics service during its Directs, and at the moment only one GameCube game (Pokémon Colosseum) is known to be on the way, with no confirmed release date.
Given that a Pokémon Colosseum release may be the sort of thing saved for a Pokémon Presents, we may get new GameCube announcements today too, or (and this may be wishful thinking) maybe a new format entirely.
