Hypixel Studios’ Hytale — an open-world, block-based sandbox RPG that’s inspired significantly by Minecraft and being developed by a team of prolific Minecraft modders best known for running the famous Hypixel server — has been enjoying a tremendous launch period ever since its Early Access release a week and a half ago.
Though we have no official metrics to look at, it’s clear from the ongoing buzz about Hytale and its Twitch viewership numbers that the game has gotten off to an explosively strong start. And as a result of that launch, the title’s modding scene has taken off as well, with 2.6K mods posted and 7.8 million mod downloads on CurseForge at the time of writing.

It’s awesome to see Collins-Laflamme and the Hypixel team embrace Hytale’s modding community for its hiring process, though it’s not terribly surprising; after all, the studio was formed by veteran Minecraft mod-makers that understand the value and potential of talented and passionate community members firsthand. Modders are often hired elsewhere in the industry as well, especially by developers known for games with huge modding communities like Bethesda.
Still, it’s cool to see that Hypixel is vowing to accrue talent from within Hytale’s community moving forward — a community that’s already quite large, and rapidly growing by the day. One of the developer’s big directives is to grow and build Hytale together with its players, and hiring skilled modders from its fanbase is a very neat way to accomplish that.
As for what this means for Violet and her mods, she says that her Violet’s Wardrobe project will no longer be updated. However, all of her other ones will be, so you can expect new content to come in them in future updates.
“Since I’m working on cosmetics for the base game, I will no longer be updating my cosmetics mod past what is in it at the moment,” she explained. “For my other mods however, I am able to work on those as normal & you can expect continued updates!”
“I’d like to clarify, this does not mean any of the cosmetics in my mod are going to be added to the base game, just that I’m switching priorities to work on cosmetics officially with the team,” she added. “Thank you for understanding!”
