Mewgenics is a newly released indie hit from the developers behind The Binding of Isaac, one of the most popular roguelikes of the past decade. It quickly rose up the Steam charts, earning a “Very Positive” rating and peaking at over 115,000 concurrent players.
In an exchange on X, formerly known as Twitter, one user asked Mewgenics co-creator Edmund McMillen whether the game would eventually see a console port. In response, McMillen said: “Working on it now not sure when it will be done though but at this point it might be in Dev for all systems”.

No specific platforms were named. However, McMillen’s previous titles, including The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy, have launched on Xbox and other consoles. While nothing has been confirmed for Xbox specifically, there is a clear precedent for his games making the jump beyond PC.
Mewgenics has been a major commercial success. SteamDB estimates suggest it has surpassed 900,000 sales since launching on February 10, 2026. That momentum was immediate, too. The game sold more than 500,000 copies within its first 36 hours.
Fans can also expect DLC in the future. The creator has confirmed that additional content is in the works, though this content will be paid and not free.
