Disney has announced an anime series based on the Square Enix game series, Kingdom Hearts, and confirmed a release window for the fourth game.
Announced during a D23 presentation in California on Friday, Disney said the Kingdom Hearts anime series will be coming to Disney+ and the Disney Channel.
The series is being created in collaboration with Tetsuya Nomura and the creative team at Square Enix, according to the announcement.
“Ready for a new adventure? An original Kingdom Hearts anime series inspired by the beloved video game franchise is coming soon,” the company said.
During the same presentation, Disney confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 4 will release in late 2027 and feature a world based on Pixar’s Coco.

Earlier this summer, Square Enix revealed new gameplay from Kingdom Hearts 4 – the first in four years – along with confirmation that the game will be available on Switch 2 on day one.
“A new instalment in the action role-playing series developed and published by Square Enix, Kingdom Hearts 4 gives fans a look at some of the characters that protagonist Sora will meet in the mysterious city of Quadratum,” an official description reads.
“Sora will once again journey to realms, where new figures cross his path and new powers awaken his next chapter. Kingdom Hearts 4 will be available at launch on Nintendo Switch 2.”
