Going Crazy With Overclocking The MacBook Neo

Blow me Down!

Techsperts were curious just how much power is in the A18 processor at the heart of the MacBook Neo and set about ensuring that heat was not a problem.  They did this by removing the system from it’s case, attaching a peltier cooler to the SoC with PTM7950 phase-change thermal paste in between and a massive amount of heatsinks to that peltier.  In order to keep that heat moving away from the heavily modified MacBook Neo they stuck it beside an industrial blower, the type you see restoration companies using after a flood.

This exercise in excess resulted in a MacBook Neo which sucked down 11W of power, 8W more than usual and boosted the Cinebench score by 41.47%.  This may not be particularly useful as a workstation but it’s an impressive jump in performance and proves there is extra power hiding in your MacBook Neo if you can keep it chillin’.
