Get It While It Lasts
Windows 11 keeps trying to force you to create an online Microsoft account and people keep finding ways around it. Thankfully it seems that every time Microsoft finds out about one of the workarounds and patches it, they seem to open another door to get in; we just have to figure it out. The tried and true OOBE\BYPASSNRO at initial login via CMD after ensuring your machine doesn’t have an internet connection still works, but it can be a little frustrating to walk someone through. It can also cause issues with Home editions
If you, or someone you know is setting up Windows 11 Home, instead of needing to fire up a CMD window at initial login you can simply click the “Learn more” hyperlink beneath the text box and the Sign-in options link. Not the big attractive button at the bottom but the one hiding inside the text. Just click that and you will be greeted with the old familiar local account setup screen.
It is sure to be fixed soon, but for now it is a quick and easy way to set up a Windows 11 Home Edition machine with only a local account.
