Generative AI is poised to change society more than any other technology developed by humans, thanks in part to the hundreds of billions of dollars it consumes.
While Google DeepMind’s CEO Demis Hassabis has warned that we’re on the precipice of achieving AGI (artificial general intelligence), but society isn’t ready to handle all that it entails, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says that the coveted benchmark will whoosh by with surprisingly little societal impact.

But perhaps more interestingly, several key stakeholders have made bold predictions about the future of the ever-evolving landscape. Last year, Joe Rogan claimed that if Jesus were to return, he’d “absolutely” return as AI. And now, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has claimed that a “God AI” may exist someday (via Haider on X.)
According to the executive:
“I guess someday we will have God AI, but that someday is probably on biblical scales. I think galactic scales. It is not helpful to go from where we are today to God AI. And I don’t think any company practically believes they’re anywhere near God AI nor do I see any researchers having any reasonable ability to create God AI.”
Huang describes God AI as something with the capability to understand human, genome, molecular, protein, amino acid, and physics language supremely well. “That God AI simply doesn’t exist,” the executive added.
We don’t all have to wait around for God AI for us to advance. God AI is not showing up next week, I’m fairly certain of that. And God AI isn’t going to show up next year, but the whole world needs to move forward next week, next year, next decade.

The executive describes AI as the next level for the computer industry, further indicating there’ll be a strong need to integrate AI into companies, much like how most companies depend on AI to run their day-to-day operations.
This news comes as Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates recently sounded an alarm on the rapid advances in the generative AI landscape and his call for intervention through guardrails and regulation, governing its development and deployment. Gates warned that the technology could facilitate the development of a bioterrorism weapon with a greater risk to humanity than the COVID-19 pandemic.
