Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong launched to critical acclaim back in September, and to close the year out, the developers have shared an impressive update on the game’s commercial performance, revealing that Hollow Knight: Silksong has passed 7 million copies sold.
To celebrate this milestone, the developers have also shared some news about what players can expect next. The team has been working on some DLC (downloadable content), and now, the first expansion is officially on the way.
Dubbed Sea of Sorrow, this free expansion includes new areas, boss fights, tools, and more. You can check out the teaser trailer for the Sea of Sorrow expansion below:
There isn’t much to go on, but the developers note that the expansion is “nautically themed” and will be launching for all players at some point in 2026.
Yet, that isn’t all! In addition to having more to come for Silksong, Team Cherry is updating its original game, with Hollow Knight getting a variety of improvements on all platforms.
In addition to a variety of bug fixes, this update will also allow Hollow Knight to run at 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratios, perfect for Steam Deck owners and players that use ultrawide monitors, respectively.
This update is currently available in beta on Steam and GOG, and is slated to launch for all players at some point in 2026.
