Nintendo has released a free update for Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
Originally released on Switch in October 2020, Pikmin 3 Deluxe is an enhanced port of 2013 Wii U game Pikmin 3, offering all DLC and new content including a prologue and epilogue.
Now the game has received a free update which improves the experience for Switch 2 owners.
According to Nintendo, the update – which should be available now, meaning it will appear the next time players attempt to start the game – features improved visuals, which are “optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs for improved image quality”.
It also adds support for GameShare, meaning two players can play the competitive Bingo Battle game together on separate devices locally, or online via GameChat.
The news means Pikmin 3 Deluxe is now the 18th first-party Switch game to receive a free Switch 2 update (as opposed to those with more substantial, paid Switch 2 Edition re-releases).
Most of the previous games to receive free Switch 2 updates generally get enhanced resolution (and sometimes enhanced frame rate too), or GameShare support. A few have received other features, however.
Games such as Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 and Game Builder Garage have received Switch 2 mouse support, for example, while some such as Super Mario Odyssey or The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom have received HDR support.

VGC’s Pikmin 3 Deluxe review said the game “still blooms on Nintendo Switch“, adding that “its new content may be underwhelming, but this demanding strategy adventure is still well worth a visit”.
