GameSir Super Nova Deal: Why I Still Use This $30 Controller

GameSir Super Nova Deal: Why I Still Use This $30 Controller

It’s not often a deal genuinely makes me do a double take. I’ve covered hundreds of discounts on everything from game controllers to white noise generators, so I don’t surprise easily.

But I was flabbergasted to see the GameSir Super Nova on sale for $29.99. I reviewed and recommended that controller for $49.99 just last year — and it was a good bargain then.

I’ve spent hundreds of hours with the GameSir Super Nova and still use it from time to time despite having a more premium controller on my desk. I’m at the top of several leaderboards in my favorite game, Tales of Vesperia, using the GameSir Super Nova, so I often default back to it when returning to that title.

Considering Tales of Berseria Remastered comes out next week, I’ll be curious to see which of my controllers I prefer for that edition of the “Tales of” franchise.

Despite its diminutive retail price, the GameSir Super Nova has Hall Effect sticks, programmable back buttons, and comes with a charging dock. It’s a comfortable controller thanks to its rubberized grips and familiar Xbox-inspired design.

The GameSir Super Nova is compatible with Windows, Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. It’s not an Xbox controller, so you’ll have to look elsewhere for Xbox console gaming.

The design and feature set of the GameSir Super Nova places it above budget controllers from Microsoft and other competitors. I’d be shocked if anyone assumed you could get one for $29.99 after holding it and using it for a while.

Sure, there are more premium options available, such as the GameSir G7 Pro (and the special GameSir G7 Pro ZZZ Edition that supports wireless connectivity to Xbox). But those are in different price brackets.

The GameSir Super Nova is sturdy, reliable, and comfortable. It’s also tremendously easy to recommend at $29.99.
