Goodbye AI And Doomscrolling, Welcome Back Snapping The Phone Shut To Hang Up
The Commodore Callback is exactly what it sounds like, a retro style clamshell phone with the look of an old Commodore product. It runs on the Linux based Sailfish OS which is a remnant of the old Nokia OS and can support a wide variety of Android apps, but it doesn’t come with them installed. Instead the Commodore Callback ships with a 48 MP Sony camera, FM radio, HD audio support, a selection of Commodore-themed games. That’s it, no other apps to deal with, unless you want to install them and definitely no baked in AI assistant.
There will be five versions of the Commodore Callback, from the $500 BASIC Beige model to a $640 Founders Edition which, for some reason, sports a 24-carat gold Commodore button. The rubber antennae is a perfect addition to the classic look of this phone, which will be available in Q4 2026 but you can pre-order now if you are that type of person.
